Easy day

I rode 112 miles today which took me up to Lizard Head pass and back to camp with a stop in Ridgeway for lunch. Blue skies and mild temperatures made for a perfect ride.

Telluride day

Today was a laid back day. We didn't leave camp until after 11:00 and then rode to Telluride which was maybe an hour away. Had lunch and then sat on a park bench and watched people scurrying about with their days activities. We're back at camp now enjoying an afternoon beer. Life is good.

Let the weekend begin

I made it to the KOA near Ouray at 3:30. It was a great ride especially from Durango to Ouray.

Off again on another long weekend of riding

Steve and I will be meeting in Ouray, Colorado on Thursday to attend yet another ST Owners Campout. It should be nice and cool there with lots of great Rocky Mountain roads to ride. Sunday we will be going to visit our cousin Bonnie and her husband Jeff out side of Bailey. I also want to see if our old cabin in Grant has changed since new owners bought it last year.

I'll try and add pictures Thursday night

Back home

Well we rode home Monday. Down I-25 to Socorro and then west on Hwy 60 past the VLA (very large array) which are radio wave receiving antennas listening for intelligent signals from outer space. Then down the road we stopped in Pie Town for guess what? We continued on west to Payson where we pretty much all split up to go to our respective homes. It was a great weekend with old and new friends.

Cold and rainy morning ride

We road a loop ride on Hwy 4 that goes by Los Alamos. It got down to 40 and light rain off and on. We got back to the hotel and took a shuttle to Old Town where we did a quick tour of the old churches. One is promoted as the oldest in the USA. We're now having a burger.

Wild Hog day

We stopped in Madrid which is where Wild Hogs was filmed. Maggie's diner is still there although it's a souvenir shop now. From there we went to Red River where there was a typical Harley rally. It clouded up and snowed for awhile and then cleared off making the ride back to Santa Fe via Angel Fire very enjoyable.

On the road again

This next trip is just a 4 dayer with a bunch of friends. We're riding to Albuquerque, Sante Fe and Red River, New Mexico to attend the bike rally they hold every Memorial Day weekend. It should be fun and some what relaxing seeing as how the other bikes are cruisers and Gold Wings. We leave this Friday and I will post pictures as I get them.

Seeing the sights along I-40

We left Janet's sisters bright and early this morning and stopped for the night in Elk City, OK. We'll make it home before dark tomorrow and then it's back to the retirement grind until the next trip.

Park the bike

I just arrived in Carbondale, IL at Janet's sisters house. The motorcycle portion of this trip is done with 3,098 more miles on it. Janet's younger sister is driving down from Chicago today so we will stay here and visit for another day. Probably load up the bike and head towards home Sunday morning. For those that followed along thanks for the company. I'm glad we went all the way to Key West but frankly Steve and I agree we will probably never do that again.

We're looking forward to our next trip starting July 16 where we will be in our favorite part of the country which is in the Rocky Mountain states.

Elvis has left the building

We made it to the north side of Memphis after a short 690 mile ride. The weather was nice starting out at 60 and getting up to 89 and dry. Not much for scenery along the stretches of interstate highways we road today but it was green and lush. A short 200+ mile day tomorrow.

A day closer to home

We road 427 miles today and ended up in Lake City, FL. Lots of traffic and up and down speed limits. We hit hard rain for a couple miles about 15 miles from our final stop. No pictures today.
No Key Lime pie for supper :o(  We ate at a Steak and Shake so I had settle for a chocolate shake.
Now to figure out which way to go tomorrow. Stay tuned.

End of the road

We made it to Key West and the end of highway 1 along with the most southern point in the continental United States. We road in a light rain but it stopped by the time we entered Key West. Lots of tourist traps to dodge. Had lunch and 2 small pieces of Key Lime pie. Took pictures then road back to Key Largo and camp. If you're watching my SPOT you'll notice a bee line from Key West to our camp. That's because I had turned off the unit in Key West and didn't turn it back on until we returned to camp. A hot shower and it was time to eat again. I had fresh Hog Fish and another slice of pie.
We will start our journey north in the morning.
