Day 15

Turn out the lights the party is over.

We all arrived home safe and sound, except Steve he came to my house for a day or so and then will ride back to KC.
Not much to take pictures of today except a parting shot of the 4 of us after breakfast this morning.

Thanks to everyone who followed along and posted likes. We do these trips for ourselves and for those that can’t get away.

Until next time “Happy Trails”

Day 14

Well we got hit with extreme temperatures today. In the morning it was in the 60s with a low of 61.7F then in the late afternoon we saw 115.7F so a 54F swing.

The first 3 hours we were on roads that were in the foot hills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. Great roads and fantastic scenery with snow capped mountains on our right and several lakes on our left.

In the afternoon we turned off of highway 395 onto highway 168 that took us over the Bristlecone National Forest and down into the Nevada desert. Then highways 95 & 160 into Pahrump for the night.

We’re headed for the barn in the morning.

Day 13

The weather cooperated again today with temperatures in the 70s and 80s. Our route took us through Lassen Volcanic National Park. There was enough elevation to still have snow in a lot of places.

With no Dairy Queens to be had we found an independent ice cream stand for our afternoon fix.

John Parry joined us last night and rode with us today and again tomorrow.

Then it was a congested ride part way around Lake Tahoe and on into Carson City, NV for the night.

Day 12

Cool to almost cold start this morning. Found a Dennys for breakfast. Rode through the Redwoods Forest in California. Lots of BIG trees. 101 took us along the shoreline too. Made a few stops for photos along the way and a pit stop or 2 (see the picture of Jerry playing Californian). It got up to 100 before we stopped for the night in Redding, CA. Highway 299 getting here was enjoyable.

Day 11

It was a long day, over 400 miles and we didn’t get settled into the motel in Brookings, OR until 8:00.

The weather was good, mostly clear skies and temperatures in the 60s and low 70s. The ride was along the Pacific coast on 101 which ends up being a little inland in the trees and along the coastline over looking the ocean.

We made a stop at the Tillamook cheese and ice cream factory where we treated ourselves to some cheese and ice cream. Then a few stops along the coast for photos.

Day 10

Another good day. Temps very mild 65-80F. Clear skies all day. Found a little cafe for breakfast. Nice roads today, very curvy. We could see Mt.Hood and Mt.St.Helens in the distance. Headed down to the Columbia River and crossed over into Oregon and connected with the Columbia Gorge Scenic highway 30. Took it to Multnomah Falls. You try and pronounce that. We missed the turn to Bridal Veil Falls. We have no idea what this stone building was used for but it was worth a picture.

Jerry and Frank continued on to a famous shopping place built using an old building called Edgefield. Steve and I crossed back into Washington and took back roads through the forests and met the other guys at the motel in Kalama, WA. Its claim to fame is that Elvis stayed here in 1962.
