Day 10

Another good day. Temps very mild 65-80F. Clear skies all day. Found a little cafe for breakfast. Nice roads today, very curvy. We could see Mt.Hood and Mt.St.Helens in the distance. Headed down to the Columbia River and crossed over into Oregon and connected with the Columbia Gorge Scenic highway 30. Took it to Multnomah Falls. You try and pronounce that. We missed the turn to Bridal Veil Falls. We have no idea what this stone building was used for but it was worth a picture.

Jerry and Frank continued on to a famous shopping place built using an old building called Edgefield. Steve and I crossed back into Washington and took back roads through the forests and met the other guys at the motel in Kalama, WA. Its claim to fame is that Elvis stayed here in 1962.

Day 9

The ride started out chilly (55-65F) and pretty much stayed that way until we got about 50 miles from Yakima, WA, where we are spending the night, then it got up to 90F

Shortly after leaving the motel this morning I split off to visit my granddaughter Alyssa who recently moved to the Seattle area. The other guys did a loop ride on the islands in Puget Sound that had them ride a ferry back to the mainland. I met them at the dock as they disembarked the ferry.

We caught highway 2 East and rode it, and others, to Yakima. Lots of traffic for a Tuesday but otherwise a pleasant ride. On the way we passed through Leavenworth, WA which is a tourist town made up to look like a Bavarian town, interesting.

During this trip we passed up several Dairy Queens so we vowed to not do that today and low and behold we found one.

Day 8

Another good day of riding. First through miles and miles of rolling wheat fields then miles and miles of apple orchards. We stopped for a short time at the Grand Coulee dam. We found a perfect little cafe in a small town for a breakfast of chicken fried steak and eggs complete with white gravy, yumm.

We road a section of the Cascade mountain scenic loop, highway 20 into the eastern outskirts of Seattle.

The lakes formed by the Diablo dam were quite the site to see with their rich turquoise colors.

The day ended at the Three Rivers Inn at 4:00. There are 2 restaurants next door so our bikes will be put to bed early.

Day 7

Todays ride was from Great Falls to Coeur d'Alene, ID. We opted to skip Glacier, yeh I know boo. Too much trouble to get a pass, reports from other riders said construction zones and the thought of following campers all combined to skip it. 3 of us have been there done that.

We pretty much took highway 200 all the way with a couple short stretches on I-90. It was chilly in the morning but then got hot in the afternoon. We had a good breakfast. Actually to much for me with the huge pancakes.

In CDA we went downtown for a beer and looked at the lake harbor. Beautiful town. Supper was at a small BBQ place. Good food.

Day 6

Here are pictures from today's ride from Cody over Beartooth Pass and then wide open prairies in The Big Sky state on our way to Great Falls. Nice weather and traffic on the pass wasn’t bad as long as you were cruising and enjoying the scenery which Frank and I did. Steve and Jerry were a little more spirited.
